The Woman in Black
Susan Hill
Young London solicitor Arthur Kipps is sent to a remote town on the misty marshes to sort out the papers of a dead old lady. Her house stands alone at the end of a causeway that floods with every tide. At her funeral, Arthur notices a pale woman dressed all in black, and nobody in town will talk about her.
