Carrie's War
Nina Bawden
In the Second World War, Carrie and her little brother Nick are sent away from London to a mining town in Wales. They must live with stern Mr Evans, who frightens everyone, and his timid sister. When they are sent down a dark path to a house called Druid's Bottom, they find warmth, stories and an old skull with a curse on it.
